The Liceo Scientifico, "E. Majorana" in Latina was founded in 1975. The history of this school is characterized by a strong determination for educational innovation. It has one of the oldest and most consolidated experimental traditions.

The first projects date back to the years 1985/1986 and for this reason this Secondary School can be considered one of the most advanced of its times. Furthermore, since 1997, it is an integral part of the "Progetto Autonomia".

As a consequence, the school’s long experience has been the basis for the anticipation of all innovative contents and new didactic methodologies used in the new Italian school system.

Thanks to this experimentation, nowadays, the teaching staff is able to follow a consolidated educational direction associating the tradition of an upper-forming, critical knowledge and an optimal school methodology with the development of communicative and linguistic skills and scientific knowledge.

As a result of this educational evolution, another advantage is that of the creation of an advanced technological equipment and an up-to-date teaching staff.

In conclusion, a precise sensibility towards didactic innovation as an experimental field has developed in order to solve learning problems and improve education, important for the complexity of contents with which students must cope.

The educational activities are organized in order to allow numerous choices according to personal tendencies and to market demand.

Nowadays, the school is a point of reference on a national scale for the refresher courses held for history teachers.

As far as this task is concerned, this school, in the book "Quaderni" (which it has published), offers a report of the positive outcome of the educational seminars for history teachers held in Latina.
